Zoe Risch is a senior advertising student at Florida State University and has been a member of the Arrowhead Advertising team for the past two years. But her journey into the realm of advertising began long before she was in the major. Zoe got her start making YouTube videos, which allowed her to discover her passion for content creation and social media at a young age.
She’s come a long way since then– Zoe landed a job as Junior Influencer Strategist with Mekanism, where she’s working part-time until she graduates this May. We spoke with Zoe about her time with Arrowhead and how it ended up being one of the most valuable experiences she had in college. As it helped her find her niche in Social Media Strategy.
Zoe was first introduced to Arrowhead when she saw a rehearsal pitch the team did at an Ad Club meeting in her Freshman year, prior to being in the major. Fascinated by the team’s professional work, Zoe applied and was accepted to the team the following year. She was on the interview team her junior year and she transitioned to the digital social team as a social strategist in the spring. After much success creating concepts and executions on social media and digital platforms, Zoe was asked to be the director of the digital social team in her senior year.
“Being a part of Arrowhead has helped me find where I fit in,” Zoe said. “I’m a junior influencer strategist. I would have had no idea what that is unless I got some experience with advertising to know where that plays in.”
Zoe encourages other students to take the leap and become involved with Arrowhead, even if they have minimal experience. She believes that Arrowhead values “…people who are passionate and can bring an asset, no matter what. Whether that be a personality trait, creative eye, internal drive, or maybe it is relevant experience.” There is always something unique that students can bring to the table as young, aspiring advertising professionals. While Zoe’s path as a digital social team member is coming to a close, her journey speaks to Arrowhead’s lasting impact on its members as a student and beyond.
