Arrowhead Advertising Founding

Arrowhead Advertising was founded in the late 1980s by Professor Barry Solomon. By the mid-’90s, the program evolved into a dedicated, for-credit competitive course within the FSU School of Communication.
The move to the College of Communication and Information’s laboratory at FSU Stadium provided the team with a professional agency environment. It was here that students officially branded the team Arrowhead Advertising—a name that remains a source of inspiration for Florida State’s top advertising talent today.
Expert Mentorship & Program Leadership

The program’s success is built on a foundation of expert mentorship. In 2019, Dr. Jaejin Lee directed the team’s Adobe campaign, which paved the way for a new decade of excellence. Since joining Florida State in 2020, Kelly Kelly, Ph.D. has continued this legacy, bringing an integrated marketing communications (IMC) focus to the lab.
Arrowhead has maintained its standing as a national powerhouse through the consistent dedication of its student-led teams. In addition to guiding the NSAC course, Dr. Kelly serves as the Faculty Advisor to the FSU Advertising Club, the university’s official collegiate chapter of the American Advertising Federation (AAF). Together, these organizations provide a comprehensive professional pipeline for FSU’s aspiring advertisers.
